Success Story

4-H Summer Camp

Franklin County 4-H 2023 Summer Camping Week was an incredible success, with a significant increase in participation compared to the previous year. We were thrilled to welcome 99 campers, a remarkable 41% increase from the campers we had in 2022. The surge in numbers reflects our camping program's growing popularity and appeal among young individuals in our community.

The energy and enthusiasm among the campers were palpable as we embarked on a thrilling adventure at the new North Center 4-H Camp, alongside our neighboring counties, Kenton, Owen, and Grant. The collaboration with these counties allowed us to create a vibrant and inclusive camping experience, bringing together a diverse group of campers and fostering a sense of unity and camaraderie.

While we encountered a few challenges at the beginning, including a camper who initially had reservations about being forced to go camping, the transformative power of the 4-H experience shone through. Despite the initial reluctance, this camper underwent a remarkable turnaround and by the end of the week, they were fully immersed in the activities and expressed a desire to become one of our strongest leaders. Their journey exemplifies the positive impact that the 4-H program can have on young individuals, instilling confidence, resilience, and a desire for continued involvement beyond the camp experience.

The success of Franklin County 4-H 2023 Summer Camping Week extended beyond increased participation. Our program offered a wide range of classes to cater to the diverse interests and passions of our campers. From high ropes to cooking, rifles to archery, rockets to kayaking and canoeing, nature exploration to book club, and swimming for beginners and advanced swimmers, there was something for everyone. Each class provided unique opportunities for skill development, personal growth, and a deeper appreciation for various subjects and activities.

The collective efforts of the campers, staff, and volunteers contributed to the success of the event. Together, we created an environment that nurtured personal growth, fostered leadership skills, and inspired a love for learning and exploration. The increased participation, reaching 99 campers, signifies the growing impact and popularity of our 4-H camping program. It serves as a testament to our team’s hard work and dedication and the positive experiences shared by previous campers, motivating more young individuals to join and embrace the transformative power of 4-H.

Franklin County 4-H 2023 Summer Camping Week will be remembered as a milestone year, marked by the substantial increase in participation and the incredible personal growth and transformation stories. We look forward to building upon this success, expanding our camping program, and continuing to provide memorable experiences that empower and inspire our future leaders.
