Homemaker International Night

Author: Alexandra Sallie

Planning Unit: Bath County CES

Major Program: Kentucky Extension Homemaker Association

Plan of Work: Leadership Enhancement and Community Development

Outcome: Initial Outcome

The Kentucky Extension Homemakers Association (KEHA) is a volunteer organization that works to improve the quality of life for families and communities through leadership development, volunteer service, and education. County homemaker organizations provide leadership opportunities to its membership through holding an office, teaching a lesson, chairing an event, and being a part of many local coalitions. Most importantly, it provides fellowship and lifelong friendships for the members.

This year, the Bath County Extension Homemakers hosted an International Night where two of the homemakers gave a presentation on the featured Country: Ireland. They showed pictures from their visit, discussed the cuisine, and the different historical sights, all while their fellow homemakers were able to taste different Irish recipes. The program was able to provide an educational aspect on a different culture and introduce the homemakers to different types of food as well. All participants agree that this was a successful program and would like to see if continued.
