The Wayne County Extension Service helps administer County Agriculture Investment Programs in Wayne County around every 18 months. CAIP provides cost share funds to farm families to help them improve farm income through investments in adding value and diversification in agriculture practices.
Wayne County Extension Service host educational meetings to inform farm families of the opportunities to qualify for cost share by an application process for CAIP Funds. The UK/KSU Extension personnel provide one-on-one informative information on how to fill out the CAIP application. We help them update or do a KY Water Quality Plan if they haven't done a plan recently. This allows new and beginning farmers to fill comfortable about filling out the application, and traditional farmers the same opportunity if they need help with the application.
We have an underserved population in Wayne County also, that requires a farm visit to help them fill out their application. KY/KSU Extension personnel do their best to inform and encourage all Wayne County Farmers to participate in the CAIP Program.
The past sign up for CAIP in Wayne County received 132 applications. We had a large number of first time applicants, and with UK/KSU Extension personnel we thought we achieved the goal of helping our traditionally farmers, new and beginning farmers and underserved farmers have an opportunity to enhance farm income through added value and crop diversification through CAIP.
The UK/KSU Extension Service is helping improve farm families lives in Wayne County.
