The problem:

A cliente came in the office one day looking for some help with starting a cut flowers operation. Just something small scale for now and didn't want it to be a big job. When talking with the cliente i first guaged the level of education this person had with growing any type of flowers. They seemed to understand the basics and have done some homework about growing cut flowers.

The educational program response

I had first mention the general "must do's" for growing cut flowers. I had them on board before they left and they learned what an extension office can offer. I reviewed soil test and gave recomendations on lime/fertilzers and how much to add. we then reviewed other management practices.

The participants/target audience

This was a single grower.

Program impact or participant response.

I hadn't heard from this grower nor had i seen how their operation went for thier first year. It wasn't until, we had a friendly reception for our new FCS agent that i got to see the results of both of our hard work. At the receiption were these really nice center peices on the tables from the growers that i had helped. The flowers looked great! it had made me feel like i had made a difference.
