Plan of Work: Promoting Leadership and Community Development
Outcome: Long-Term Outcome
Youth in Greenup County have a variety of interests that allow them to learn essential skills and practice leadership. Part of the Greenup County Community Arts Program is providing opportunities that meet student interests in the areas of music, art, and theatre. In 2023, Greenup Arts has celebrated the successes of Mason Furst, Raini Hall, India Woods, and Braxton Newland. These are exceptionally talented and dedicated youth leaders who have been part of the Greenup Arts program for many years. Raini is a 4-H student who gained new skills by volunteering to act in a play with us for the first time, ever. She attained her 4-H Achievement Gold status this year and we are very proud of her! Mason has acted with Greenup Arts throughout his middle and high school career. He has played multiple roles and shows strong leadership qualities. Mason is directing his very first show with us this year and was also selected to participate in Governor's Scholar's Program. Braxton is still in elementary school but has taken his experience with Greenup Arts outside of his home community and landed roles in two larger theatre companies in neighboring communities. India has returned to Greenup Arts as a dual-role actress, props manager, and assistant director/stage manager.
We are proud to see these students use their skills from Greenup Arts program in their lives outside of Extension.
