Outcome: Intermediate Outcome

Commercial Pesticide Applicator Training, through required continuing education hours, provides updated information to professionals in the lawn, landscape maintenance, golf course, and nursery businesses. By the University of Kentucky Cooperative Extension Specialist and Daviess County Extension Agent for Horticulture Education presenting the training in the county, local companies save time and money by reducing travel time, transportation expense, and possible overnight stays to attend training outside of the county at state events. The City of Owensboro horticulture supervisor said that by training 18 employees in November in Daviess County, the city saved $1860 by avoiding transportation and hotel expenses. Further savings included registration fees. A total of 38 people were trained at the program in November with 35 responding to a survey. In addition to cost savings, 82% of the respondents to the survey said that they learned more about how weather affects pesticide volatility and drift and 80% learned more about when inversion layers can occur and how that affects pesticide drift.
