Plan of Work: Nutrition and Food Matters And Healthy Family (Community) through Healthy Individuals

Outcome: Initial Outcome

I organized a trip to Jungle Jim's International Market in Cincinnati. The purpose was to expose local clientele to international foods that they were not familiar with, this would allow them to learn about and taste foods that they had never been exposed to before.

I had arranged a guided tour of the facilities and the various sections of different foods. Included was the sampling. We learned about foods from many counties and learned some were not as different as what we are used to eating, and some were very different.

After the conclusion of the 2-hour tour, the attendees were allowed to go back though the market and shop for foods they would like to take home and try. It is always interesting about what the different attendees choose and compare on the trip home.

They do definitely like to try the different foods and are on the lookout for them more locally and when they travel out of town. This was a success as most liked this expanding of their palates and for the most part with healthy nutritious foods that were previously foreign to them. And this trip was open to any and all who would like to attend.
