Outcome: Long-Term Outcome

This year at the Grant County fair we had 5 out of 7 participants brand new to the Show of Showman. The Show of Showman is an opportunity for youth to earn a spot by being the best showman in their species. They then will go on and represent that species overall to determine the BEST showman that year by showing each animal (beef cattle, dairy cattle, sheep, goats, hogs, rabbits, and poultry). Our Show of Showman starts off by having a small clinic for our youth to learn a little about showing each species, but our two veterans wanted to take it further and host a 2 hour long clinic to prepare 4-Hers for the Show of Showman. These two young ladies wanted to make sure ALL youth involved felt confident in their showing abilities, even if it was not their normal species. They then had the 4-H over that specific animal help demonstrate on how to show and handle the animal. With this it has gotten me thinking of hosting 2 large showman clinics for the  purpose of Show of Showman, but also to prepare youth who may be interested in showing livestock as well. The goal is to host showman clinics, one in the fall and one spring. These young ladies made such an influential part on these first time showman and truly that will stick with them for a lifetime.
