Enhancing Beef Production

With approximately 12,000 beef cows, beef cattle income ranks second in the county.  To improve profits and sustainability, beef educational meetings were conducted in cooperation with the Taylor County Cattlemen’s Association.

To promote beef in the county, the Association cooked at C & S Mission Store customer appreciation, Taylor County’s first Juneteenth celebration, Murakami employee appreciation, Kentucky Christian School fundraiser, Bluegrass Stockyards customer appreciation and for a Chamber of Commerce luncheon.

The Taylor County Cattlemen’s Association also hosted a Cattlemen’s Roundup (first event since COVID) with approximately 100 producers participating in the event.  Participants viewed new products from five vendors and educational sessions on the new Farm Tax Exemption number and how beneficial drones are in beef operations.   Several participants commented on how it was good to get together again for food, fellowship, and a fun beef event.

The Taylor County Cattlemen’s Association also administers the CAIP program.  One hundred six people received funds in eleven investment areas for a total of $199,000.   They also presented three high school seniors with a $750 scholarship.

The Taylor County Cattlemen’s Association was also involved in helping oversee the Tornado Disaster Relief, co-sponsored the Taylor County Finest Family Farm Award at the local county fair and sponsored the Taylor County Fair Beef Show with a $250 donation.
