Agent worked with Extension Intern on his summer project to develop, plan and implement an ag technology field day aimed at livestock producers. Two adjoining livestock and crop operations were selected for what was termed as a "Drone Field Day". Various drone manufacturers (most out of state), UK Ag Engineering Specialists and Regional University personnel were contacted, and agreed to participate by providing equipment. giving presentations, and setting up an outdoor trade show. Well over 75 producers attended the event jointly sponsored with the local cattlemen's association. Dr. Les Anderson, UK Beef Specialist, was also on hand to demonstrate the new X10D app developed for beef producers, of which Hardin County is one of the initial Ag Development Council sponsors and pilot county. Drones shown spraying fields and used to inspect field lines, as well as cattle observation. Manufacturers had rave reviews of the event and strongly urged us to hold such an event again and that they would participate. Event provided lots of one-on-one discussions with producers, drone manufacturers, and university specialists.
