Plan of Work: 4-H Youth Development - Leadership
Outcome: Intermediate Outcome
For many years there has been a strong presence at the Alexandria Fair and Horse Show. From project work to livestock and horse shows to a fundraiser drink booth, the Campbell County 4-H Program has continued to stay active at the fair that is a 6 day, 5 night event over the Labor Day weekend. The Alexandria fair board is supportive of the county 4-H program throughout the whole year but especially during the fair weekend. This year discussion was held to offer youth activities continuously throughout Labor Day Monday due to a need to have more fun activities going on on that day. The fair board sponsors a few youth activities already but entertained the idea of it being 4-H Day with the county 4-H program sponsoring various games, attractions, hands on activities, and other fun kid-friendly presentations. There are breaks in the fair schedule that will lend itself to adding more fun things for youth to do. The fair board approved the concept for 2022. 4-H will sponsor and provide attractions such as face painting, juggler, kids karaoke, make & take crafts, balloon animals, kids dance groups, and other youth activities. Local teens will be recruited to provide as many of the activities as possible so their talents can be showcased and they can learn more about the county fair connection to the 4-H program.
