Several youth from ages 9-13 participated in an “Exploring 4-H Day Camp” in the summer of 2022. Since the pandemic has required a rebuilding of the 4-H and Cooperative Extension Service programs, this day camp allowed younger youth to experience part of the array of activities and disciplines that 4-H had to offer. The Russell County 4-H program collaborated with the Russell County School System to provide a citizenship program to 212 fifth grade youth. Citizenship education increases the likelihood of engagement in community education and community service as well as the understanding of the political process.
