The poverty level for Kentucky is 16% according to the 2020 census data report with food insecurity coming in at 13.8 % both are over the national average. Goodwill Industries of Kentucky conducts a program called RISE (Reintegrating Individuals Successfully Every Day). The RISE program is offered in Louisville, Lexington, Pikeville and Bowling Green. Healthy Choices at the Park

 Logan County has an obesity rate of 37 %; as well as a 34 % of physical inactivity. Due to the obesity rate and physical inactivity, there are 14 % that struggle with food insecurity and 7 % limited access to food. The Logan County Public Library, Logan County School District and the Logan County Cooperative Extension Office partnered together for the library’s Summer Reading and Feeding Program. According to the national average 41 percent of adolescents between the ages of 10-17 years old are obese. Between the grade levels 9th-12th grade 17 percent of children do not get at least 60 minutes of physical activity each day of the week. In the state of Kentucky there are 104,293 individuals with diabetes between the ages of 3-21 years old.
