Situation:

Volunteers are important in building engaged and empowered communities.  

The Kentucky Extension Homemakers Association mission is to improve the quality of life for families and communities through education, leadership development and volunteer service. With membership totaling more than 13,000 statewide, members are engaged leaders and active volunteers. 

4-H Youth and Volunteer Leadership is about: 

Work within our community (club/county/state or beyond) to become an engaged leader who can make a difference.

Volunteers make up the Metcalfe County Ag Development Council, County Extension Council Program area advisory councils and are important in overseeing the use and distribution of Ag Development Funds.

Long-Term Outcomes:

KEHA members, 4-H volunteers, and Council members serve as active Extension and community volunteers engaged in addressing community needs.

Intermediate Outcomes:

Leaders will practice personal leadership skills through leadership roles at the club, county, area and/or state level.

The number of volunteer service hours reported annually for KEHA, Extension and Community activities are reported and corresponding dollar value of volunteer time is promoted.

Initial Outcomes:

Members and volunteers will gain organizational knowledge through annual officer and chairman training.

Members and volunteers will increase knowledge and skills in personal leadership through club lessons and special interest workshops.

Youth and Volunteers will serve as teen and adult leaders in our community, organizations, and as mentors for younger youth. Youth will be productive, contributing adults in the future, leadership and communications skills needed to be successful in the workplace on a daily basis

Evaluation:

Outcome: Members and volunteers will increase knowledge and skills in personal leadership through club lessons and special interest workshops.

Indicator:  Number of individuals reporting improved personal and interpersonal leadership knowledge and/or Number of individuals reporting improved personal and interpersonal leadership skills.

Inputs: Barren Co. FCS Agent will coordinate and create a facilitation video, MCA FCS Agents will teach to leaders in their own counties.  State Specialists, County Homemaker member lesson leaders, members.

Audience:  Metcalfe County Extension Homemakers 

Project or Activity:   Jewelry Making and Repair                             

Content or Curriculum: FCS Agent created curriculum 

Inputs: Logan Co. FCS Agent will coordinate and create a facilitation video, MCA FCS Agents will teach to leaders in their own counties.  State Specialists, County Homemaker member lesson leaders, members.

Audience:  Metcalfe County Extension Homemakers 

Project or Activity:   Tobacco Stick  Crafts                             

Content or Curriculum: FCS Agent created curriculum

Inputs: Simpson Co. FCS Agent will coordinate and lesson will be taught in a Multi-County Homemaker Leader training with 4 sessions offered, and a.m. and p.m. time slot on 9/25 in Barren County and 9/26 in Warren County.  State Specialists, County Homemaker member lesson leaders, members.

Date: October/November 2024


Audience:  Metcalfe County Extension Homemakers 

Project or Activity:   Metcalfe Co. Annual meeting, MCA Area Meeting and KEHA State Meeting                                                        

Content or Curriculum: Officer Training & Educational Chairman Workshops   

Inputs: FCS Agents, Area Advisors, State Advisors, Area and State Homemaker officers and chairpersons

Date: Annually at County quarterly Homemaker council meetings,  KEHA annual meeting in spring, and MCA annual meeting in Fall


Audience:  Metcalfe County Extension Homemaker Council and club members who participate

Project or Activity:   10 annual club meetings, and 1 annual full county membership meeting in August. Special interest activities

Metcalfe County 4-H Shooting Sports Youth and Volunteers

Kentucky 4-H Shooting Sports State Competition 2024 The annual KY 4-H Shooting Sports State Competition, the culminating event for youth participating in the 4-H shooting sports program was hosted at the Bluegrass Sportsmen’s League in Wilmore, KY on Saturday, Sept. 7th and at the Central KY Gun Club in Berea, KY on Sunday, Sept. 8th. Over the course of the weekend over 1,000 youth, their families, and county coaches, volunteers and 4-H agents gathered to take part in the event. This

Metcalfe County 4-H Certified Shooting Sports Volunteers, 4-H Agent partnered with the Metcalfe County Schools Community Education and KY Fish and Wildlife to offer a “Firearm Safety and Range” program during two weekends in the spring and fall.   This program offered a hands-on learning experience providing an opportunity to learn hunter safety information and practice skills on the range.   Everyone completing this program would receive their “Kentucky Hunters Safet
