Allen County’s population has grown rapidly to 20,210. Allen County is one of the fastest growing counties in the BRADD area, partially supported by the new four-lane U.S. 231 connector road to Interstate 65 in Bowling Green. Allen County’s strategic location adjacent to Bowling Green (the regional economic hub), state borderline proximity to Metropolitan Nashville, Tenn., and its’ Barren River Lake shoreline increasingly provide opportunities for business and residential development. The county's diverse natural resources and Barren River Lake & Park resources serve as a catalyst for future development opportunities. Allen County’s “Path to the Future” strategic plan identifies downtown streetscape improvement, re-commercialization of Scottsville’s downtown and cultural tourism growth as priorities for the next four years. New private land donations provide opportunity for built environment and green space development to promote cultural, local foods and recreational development.
*Dugas Community Park will be completed to provide a cultural, educational, recreational and environmental conservation community park.
*Heart of Scottsville Historic District project completed to enhance downtown economic development opportunities
City of Scottsville and Heart of Scottsville Steering Committee apply skills for Historic District project completion.
Community Development Committees will initiate campaigns to build community support and acquire necessary funding for Dugas Community Park projects, including Farmer's market complex
City of Scottsville and Heart of Scottsville Steering Committee will increase knowledge of processes necessary for streetscape project completion.
Clientele and Friends of Dugas Community Park Committees will increase awareness of development, design and funding for park heritage and recreational opportunities
