Grains
- Poultry and cattle make up 99% of animal sales by type according to the CEDIK county profile (CEDIK, 2014). Livestock and forage systems for those animals are a top priority for farmers in the county. With fluctuating cattle prices, producers are looking for ways to better market their cattle to bring top dollar. Grain producers are looking for ways to cut costs and maximize production with falling grain prices.

In October, a second basics of welding class began at the Clinton County Technology Center. This once again was a multi-county effort between Clinton and Cumberland County Extension. The class currently has 15 participants. Over 100 children are killed on farms each year in the United States according to the CDC. With that statistic and knowledge, the Agriculture and Natural Resources agent applied for a grant to host a Progressive Agriculture Foundation safety day and it was awarded. Major Program: Emergency Disaster Preparedness
On January 17th, 2023, the Cumberland County Agriculture Agent hosted a LADDER tabletop exercise. This event was presented to the ANR agent from co-workers as one in a series of four pilots. During LADDER participants were engaged in working through real life scenarios during a disaster. The ANR agent was responsible for recruiting participants for the event, taking notes during the event, and assisting with the After-Action Report at the conclusion of the event.
