Producers in the county continue to increase the amount of acreage in their operations, with this increase comes also an increased need for additional labor. Producers need to provide efficient, accurate, and timely training to their labor force for each component of their operation. In addition, tobacco producers in the county seek a reliable bilingual training opportunity for their seasonal H2A labor force to meet the requirements of their GAP certification. This is also important for our Youth to learn about and further understand, as they are the future of crop production in our community.

2021 was an exceptionally difficult year for the restricted use pesticide trainings that typically occur in January and February. We had record numbers of individuals with expired cards due to the KDA exception from 2020, and we were experiencing a spike in Covid-19 in our region.
