Making Healthy Lifestyle Choices (general)
The Centers for Disease Control found in a nationally representative survey that only 29% of high school youth participated in at least 60 minutes of physical activity on each of the seven days before the survey. Participation in physical activity decreases as we age.
Youth maintain positive health habits.
Youth are at a lower risk for serious disease and illness.
Youth are at a lower risk for physical and emotional distress.
Youth are competent, capable, contributing adults as a result of their participation in 4-H Health programs.
Youth adopt healthy behaviors that lead to a healthy lifestyle that include making healthy lifestyle choices, not engaging in risky behavior and handling stress.
Youth identify healthy lifestyle choices.
Youth understand risky behaviors and their consequences.
Youth aspire to have higher self-esteem.
Youth identify healthy ways to handle stress.

In the United States, the leading cause of death in teens ages 15 to 18 is unintentional/accidental according to a 2017 CDC report. In an effort to educate teens on practicing safety, the Bracken County 4-H, Bracken County FFA, the Bracken County Soil Conservation, Bracken County Fire and EMS, and Kentucky Department of Agriculture teamed up to bring the Pep Rally for Life to BCHS. The Bracken County FCS Agent collaborated with the local school, Bracken County Middle School and their 21st century grant program to offer some lessons on nutrition.The lesson came from WIN (Wellness in Kentucky) curriculum on the B.O.N.E.S lesson with the milk challenge.A pre and posttest was given.There were 50 students and 5 adults participating. In Bracken County, there are very few after school care options for children. According to the US Census Bureau, the average commute for work in Bracken County is 34.1 minutes. Considering that the majority of working parents have schedules that do not revolved around school hours, finding suitable after school care options sometimes aren’t available. I was approached by the 4th Grade teacher at Augusta Independent Schools on doing a school enrichment program. When I told her about so
