Youth in Greenup County feel that they are not a direct part of community development. Although they have talents and ideas, there is no outlet for them to engage in the community outside of their schools. Also, having three seperate high schools makes these youth unable to regularly work together. The Greenup Extension Arts Council has identified the need to focus on incorporating youth input. This led to the creation of Youth Voices for Creative Arts (YVCA) in Greenup County. These youth are teacher recommended through school, homeschool, or private arts studio instructor. They meet and communicate regularly and participate as volunteers in Greenup Arts events. YVCA has a yearly project of their own that will connect them with the community.
The long term outcome for YVCA is to have an active, engaged, youth council of arts-focused students from all over Greenup County that is sustained by youth leadership.
Intermediate outcomes for YVCA is to have students volunteer to participate in events that will connect their council to the community.
The initial outcome of YVCA is to establish a council with representation from all area schools, homeschool groups, and private arts studios.

Major Program: Artistic Skill Development
Greenup County has a rich heritage of talented and creative people. Although the arts are valued by most parents as an important component of the whole person, many of our local schools have reduced the availability of arts instruction and participation programs to students. Greenup Arts is bridging the gap by offering a newly formed Creativity Club for students in grades 4 through 8. This new group has members from all three school districts in our county which represent a diverse population. T
