Pesticide Safety – Livestock Pests
The health and well-being of farm families and the public are a main priority. Farmers normally work long hours and are alone the biggest part of the time. This makes them a high risk for injury and/or fatality. Tractor roll overs are the number one leading cause of fatalities on a farm. Chemical safety is a concern due to the amount of water ways we have in the county. Safe and correct usage of chemicals brings this to the forefront.
- Reduce environmental impacts of winter feeding areas.
- Reduction of drift related complaints and damage.
- Improve sustainability of animal livestock production systems.
- Implement BMPs from ag water quality plans.
- Design effective spray schedules for plant pest management.
- Designing effective administration schedules.
- Understand the importance of clean water.
- Observe proper chemical handling, storage, and cleanup in home, farm, or business.
