Since 2010, the Horticulture Agent with the help of the Lake Cumberland beekeepers have put on a Beginner Bee School in even numbered years. These programs have been very successful, creating more beekeeping operations each and every time the program is held.
The Pulaski County Extension office purchased and currently manages two colonies of honeybees located at the Extension office. These hives were put in place to be used for various beekeeping programs for either adults or youth.
Increase the number of sustainable beekeeping operations in Pulaski County. Increase family income by selling honey, bees, and/or queens
Provide more honey for the local market and beyond. There will be more bees for healthy pollination of crops. Get beekeepers involved in the farmers' markets.
