Health
Each decision individuals make has an impact on the health and safety of their family, community, and environment. Understanding how daily choices can impact our environment is vital to conserving and preserving our natural resources and ensuring a healthy environment for and future generations. The average Kentuckian uses 67 gallons a water today, youth struggle to understand basic concepts regarding the natural world, the proliferation of invasive plant species has reached near epidemic levels, and beyond the excessive use of water, the community is working through issues related to storm water and pollution of local streams.

Major Program: Forages
For years, livestock farmers have been slow to adapt rotational grazing on their farms. Dunroven here in Lexington was no different; there were large numbers of cattle in large fields with not many interior rotational fences. After numerous farm visits and countless recommendations with the farm manager there, they finally decided to adopt a rotational grazing style system. Fences are being installed with extra watering locations as well. This will allow them to maintain,

Major Program: Natural Resources

Major Program: Farm Management, Economics and Policy
The FDA has changed the laws regarding antibiotics used on livestock/consumption animals. Some of these antibiotics have always been availbe over-the-counter (OTC). Starting in June they were no longer available OTC and all of them had to be prescribed by veterinarian. This presented a logistical challenge and many questions from livestock producers of all kinds (cattle, sheep, goats, hogs, etc.). The purpose of this program was to utilize local veterinarians and educate
