The University of Kentucky Cooperative Extension Service Community Needs Assessment revealed that the Campbell County Cooperative Extension Service should continue to work on the following:
1. More qualified leaders to prepare community for the future
2. More citizens helping to solve local issues
3. More youth community leadership opportunities
As of 2019, Campbell County’s population was estimated to be 93,152. With Campbell County ranking in the top ten largest populated counties in Kentucky, the need to model the importance of marketing the College of Agriculture, Food and Environment is an ongoing challenge for the Campbell County Cooperative Extension Service agents, assistants and support staff. Audience: General Public
Youth and adults, who participate in Extension programs are qualified to be leaders in the community

2021-2022 brought a few more challenges as it relates to operations and budgets across the state. A pre and post survey was given to program participants during extension conference measuring their comfort level to create a Qualtrics Evaluation that aligns with KERS. The results were 2.45 stars before verses 4.10 stars afterwards. The success of the Cooperative Extension Service programming is due, in part, to the dedication of a large cadre of volunteers (Smith, Dasher & Klingborg, 2005). The 4-H Youth Development Programs within Extension especially depend heavily on adult and teen volunteers to play integral roles in 4-H programming by performing a wide variety of duties and functions. The Kentucky Extension Master Gardener Program began in the late 1980’s and was initially active in a few urban counties. Fifty Kentucky counties have an active master garden program who have contributed 11,300 volunteer hours across those fifty counties. With the national hourly volunteer rate of $24.69, Kentucky Extension Master Gardener volunteers have contributed over $279,900 in annual service to the state!
