2019 Community Assessment results indicated the following prioritized issues in Community Vitality: more qualified leaders to prepare community for the future; more youth community leadership opportunities; and more citizens helping solve local issues. Extension is well positioned to develop a community leadership program over the next four years for both youth and adults.
- Communities are equipped with competent, effective leaders
- Community members engage others to initiate projects.
- Civic engagement is possible and desirable for community members
- Citizens put skills into practice by becoming more engaged in the community, taking on leadership roles.
- Graduates in formal leadership roles increase their involvement/action.

Major Program: Building Healthy Coalitions
Over the past year, Covid-19 restrictions have changed the way councils and advisory groups conducted business and subsequent programming. Yet, true leaders rise to the challenge of different and difficult circumstances. Trunk or Treat is a community program that we partnered with this year. Trunk or Treat is a safe place for kids to get a chance to dress up and have fun while getting candy and spending quality time with their family.
