4-H Science, Engineering, and Technology Core Curriculum
Youth experience formal education in schools which includes SET & mathematics area, No Child Left Behind (course content, testing, tutoring provided in schools). 4-H non-formal experientially based programming addresses science ability(process) and science anchors (content) under guidance of trained (scientifically able) mentors, reaches diverse populations: an increased awareness of SET skills, content, and career possibilities increases engagement of youth is STEM careers.
Youth will utilize the scientific method to solve problems in their daily life. Youth will choose a career path in science, engineering or technology subject matter. youth will utilize the scientific method in decision making.
Youth will use and apply the skills gained from 4-H science, engineering and technology. Youth will demonstrate and share new abilities in science, engineering and technology with others.
Teens will participate in science, engineering and technology 4-H programs to acquire new skills.
Initial Outcome: Youth will learn the basics of science engineering and technology.
Indicator: Use 4-H SET curriculum
Method: Evaluations at beginning
Timeline: 2019 - 2020
Intermediate Outcome: Youth will use the basic skills they have learned in science engineering and technology to create circuit boards, wind power, aerospace projects.
Indicator: Use 4-H SET curriculum for each of the SET areas.
Method: Evaluations before and after program, knowing how to use and build circuit boards
Timeline: 2019 - 2020
Long-term Outcome: Youth will be able to help teach other youth about SET programs.
Indicator: 4-H SET curriculum
Method: Evaluation at the end of the program and skills learned at SET programs
