Adult Beginning Sewing Classes

Description:

NOTE: Class will also meet Jung 21 & 28.

Over the course of 3 weeks students will work on various techniques and skills to gain an understanding of the fundamentals of sewing. Classes are conducted with students creating small projects with a goal to provide understanding of:  Sewing  machine and parts; Fabric; Tools & notions; Importance of layout, measuring, &   cutting; Seams and seam finishes;  Zipper and buttonhole application; Pressing and fabric care.  

Students will come to understand how to use various seams, findings, & techniques in different  sewing applications and appreciate the “whole” process. Learning the foundations will free students up to truly explore their creative side, learn to be flexible, daring and have fun as they move forward with their sewing knowledge to create wonderful designs.  

Things to bring to class:  Sewing Machine with the manual  - don’t forget the power cord and  foot petal (if you do not own a machine, one can be borrowed, please reserve one ahead of time) and a pair of sewing shears (scissors). 
Instructor, Loretta Haley, MCV.  Cost:  $25.00, kit fee for Fayette County Homemaker Members and $33.00 for non-members. You must pre-register for this class which is limited to the first 10 individuals.
