As a rural community, Lewis County lacks a variety of after-school and weekend programming for young people. The Kentucky State Fair is a culminating event of yearly 4-H project work. Historically the Boone County's 4-H Utopia Fair occurred annually in the first week in August.In January of 2024, the Boone County's Fair Board selected a new date, switching the annual Fair date to the last week in June. This date has created an upset in the community. The Breckinridge County 4-H Choruses collaborated with the Louisville Youth Choir, thanks to a generous grant from the Kentucky Rural Urban Exchange. Over 120 youth from Breckinridge County and Louisville participated in this exchange of rural and urban students through two concerts: one held in Louisville at The Temple and the other hosted by Breckinridge County at St. Romuald Church.
