Henry County 4-Hers and the Henry County Cooperative Extension Service is making a difference in the lives of those that are shut-in due to Covid-19 in our community. As of June 15, 2021, Pulaski County had reported 6,530 cases of COVID-19, with 117 deaths related to the virus. Pulaski County Extension has worked with the Lake Cumberland District Health Department in reporting the weekly statistics in their weekly newspaper article and on other media outlooks. Pulaski County Extension joined in with 21 others nonprofit organizations and 18 Food Vendors at the “Sample of Somerset” an evening event that was attended by more than 1,000 people. The Community and Economic Development Initiative of Kentucky (CEDIK) partners with UK Family Consumer Science on the SAMSHA Rural Opioid Technical Assistance grant to help reduce the burden of mental health issues that lead to substance use.
