Youth studies show that youth benefit from courses in personal finance. In order to offer youth a significant experience regarding finances and job interaction the Carlisle County Extension offered a very comprehensive Reality Store. The students received post event lessons on resume's and job applications, and budgeting. School personnel determined the education category for students based on test scores. The Webster County Cooperative Extension Service hosted a financial simulation program, "It's Your Reality," for 141 seventh grade students at the Webster County Middle School. Consumer Fraud is a continuing problem nationwide. In 2014, the Consumer Sentinel Network received over 2.5 million complaints, not including unwanted phone calls. Identity theft remains the No. 1 consumer complaint area; 13 percent of all consumer complaints were related to identity theft. To educate our communities, the Lake Cumberland Area Extension Agents for Family and Consumer Sciences, asked the Attorney General, Andy Beshear to present an educational program. Kentucky ranks at the top for having the most kids with incarcerated parents. In an effort to strengthen life skills and to improve recovery efforts for incarcerated fathers from substance abuse, the Breckinridge County Extension Service FCS program has reached out to the local detention center to conduct nutrition education and family resource management classes.
