Consumer Fraud is a continuing problem nationwide. In 2014, the Consumer Sentinel Network received over 2.5 million complaints, not including unwanted phone calls. Identity theft remains the No. 1 consumer complaint area; 13 percent of all consumer complaints were related to identity theft.
