The Fourth Annual Hunt Your Food program was a great success again. Numbers were greater than what we had hoped for the entire program was well received. The collaboration of this agent and my 4-H counter- part went well as usual. The participants were a small percentage of hunters in the area. All members were very active, responsive and asking extremely good questions with lots of enthusiasm. Allen County has very a diverse terrain that allows wildlife to thrive. The woodlands and water habitats such as Barren River Lake result in a large number of hunters and fisherman in the area. According to the 2017 agriculture censes, 21% of the county is woodland habitat with 32% being pasture land and 44% in cropland. To address the growing public interest in wildlife habitat and damage management, the Montgomery, Menifee and Bath County ANR Agents planned and conducted a Regional Wildlife Management program. 67 hunters, farmers and land owners attended this one night event and gained knowledge in the following topics: Developing Hunting Leases; Liabilities and Risks of Hunting for Farmers; Controlling Unwanted Wildlife and Food Plots for Wildlife (Deer, Turkey, Dove and Waterfowl).
