Outcome: Long-Term Outcome

Due to the pandemic in 2020, the annual WGBS was cancelled.  For 2021 the group of community partners choose to continue with the annual World's Greatest Baby Shower but as a drive thru event.  Pregnant moms safety and less exposure risks to COVID was the committees main concern.

union County held its 15th annual World’s Greatest Baby Shower on June 24, 2021. The drive thru event provided pregnant moms the opportunity to receive free educational information as well as the opportunity to ask questions to vendors.  Information provided on such topics as infant dental health, Newborn Baby,  breastfeeding, and the Mommy Survival Guide.

The Baby Shower was open to all of Union County’s expectant mothers. Twenty-four expectant mothers ranging in age from 15-40 attended the drive thru event.  Each of the “Mom’s to be” received a door prize and products totaling an average of $75.00 - $100.00 each as a result of donations from vendors and event sponsors.

The educational baby shower was sponsored by KY ASAP, Union County Family Dental, Unite Community Bank, Community Education, Baker Family Chiropractic, Green River District Health Department, Health First Health Center, Union County Early Childhood, United Healthcare Community Plan of KY, WellCare, Union County Homemakers and Union County Extension Service.

Hopefully in 2022 the World's Greatest Baby Shower may resume to our normal event.
