The Covid 19 pandemic caused many losses.  Many of our social and educational club routines were disrupted.  Prior to the pandemic, the Powell and Clark County Beekeepers association was a group that embodies the ideas of the Cooperative Extension service.   The group is educational and service oriented in its mission.  Knowledge, resources and experience is shared freely among club members.

The groups monthly zoom meetings to comply with restrictions were poorly attended.  Likely due to the lack of capable internet of the rural members.   The club leadership, under the direction of Larry Young, president and the CEA of Powell County encouraged members to reach out to members to check up on everyone.  That interaction, by any means necessary, kept the group together.

As restrictions began to lift in April, the group met for the first time in over a year.  Twenty participants showed up for that first meeting.  Since April, the educational have reached 60 people and numbers are growing.   

The extra effort shown by the leadership of the club helped to ensure that members were valued and included in the community regardless of internet access.  The club remains strong.
