Outcome: Initial Outcome
As a nonprofit it is essential to develop partnerships with community organizations. Relationships with community partners can help with grant writing, volunteer recruitment, and program promotion. The goal of community partnerships is beneficial for both sides and strengthen the broader community. Jefferson County 4-H has developed a very strong relationship with Louisville Public Libraries.
During the COVID-19 Pandemic, the Louisville Free Public Library wanted to continue offering programs to the public. As a community effort, Jefferson County 4-H was asked to video and record virtual programs to families can at home. 4-H was recorded for six months with three videos released each month. 4-H was able to present programs focusing on five of the seven state 4-H curriculum areas. Some of the programs we presented included topics such as container gardening, eating healthy, art projects for the state fair and junk drawer robotics. In total, there has been approximately 1,000 views and 100’s of shares on the Public Library YouTube and Facebook page.
Filming these programs has been such a success, the library system is considering continuing to offer monthly virtual 4-H filming opportunities once restrictions are lifted. Through this public recording, Jefferson County 4-H has been asked to partner with other youth organizations in the city. This partnership has opened new doors to additional local business relationships and volunteer opportunities.
