Outcome: Long-Term Outcome
In Green County, the cooperation of the Green County Cooperative Extension Service and other local agencies and groups makes lasting impacts on our community. No better example can be found than the 20+ year relationship between the Green County Cooperative Extension Service and the Green County Cattlemen’s Association.
Since 2000, both organizations have worked hand in hand to improve the Green County beef industry. Through education, marketing of cattle, administering cost-share programs, and educational tours, the teamwork displayed has helped producers gain information about cattle production, be more profitable, and reinvest in their operations.
The Green County Cattlemen’s Association has grown leaps and bounds in our small town. With over 300 members, they have purchased a 48-acer farm with a exposition center were community events are held, educational opportunities, livestock shows & sales, and 4-H events. They also have an average of 2 field days a year, 4 quarterly educational meetings, and an annual meeting every October. Our little community would suffer without organizations such as this, as they also organize fundraisers for the Rotary Club, high school seniors, FFA Chapter, farmers market, and the senior center.
Without partnerships such as this our community wouldn’t survive. For now and into the future, the Green County Extension Cooperative Service and Green County Cattlemen’s Association will continue to cooperate to provide valuable services to Green County farmers and it’s community.
