With the COVID-19 pandemic and restrictions to in-person meetings for much of the past year, LaRue County 4-H provided a wide variety of activity kits that families could complete together at home.  Some of the kits were provided one per family while others were one per child, depending on the supplies needed.  The kits were generally provided on a monthly basis during most of 2020-2021.  Grab and Go Kits were promoted on the 4-H and Extension Office FaceBook pages and also on the local weekly radio Extension news.  Several families who were new to Extension programming took advantage of the Grab and Go Activity bags.  The bags helped bring new people to the office and also made them aware of other services the Extension Service offers.  4-H also partnered with the LaRue County Middle School and High School Family Resource Youth Service Centers to provide a bag to all the participants in the back-pack program from both schools.  Sixty activity bags were provided to students in the back-pack program.  These bags included ingredients and the recipe for a trail mix.  Bags also included a water bottle and several other healthy snack recipes that would be easy for youth to make on their own at home.  A few of the 4-H project clubs also offered members activity bags during the fall when in-person meetings were restricted including the 4-H Cooking Club and the 4-H Arts and Crafts Club.  Several families expressed how much their children enjoyed and learned from the various activity bags.  Numerous kits provided items for 4-H projects that could be entered in the fair.  Examples are the terrarium kit and the woodworking toolbox kit.
