Each week students were learning about the nutrition needed in daily diet, how important intake of the correct serving sizes are, where their food came from, how it grown, how to prepare, store and handle food safely. Entry and Exit surveys were taken at the beginning and end of series.

Eating nutritious fresh foods was made more difficult by living in a food desert.  Students were ask how they could include more fresh nutritious foods to their diet. Upon conclusion of series students were stating they now knew to take a cooler to transport food safely. Growing fruits and vegetables doesn’t take a large amount of space. Buying at farmers markets when in season, would stretch food dollars farther.

. Exit surveys indicated 70% of students had improved in one or all categories.
