In 2020, faculty and staff from the Department of Horticulture, the Center for Crop Diversification (CCD), and the Kentucky Horticulture Council collaborated on an updated version of HortFact-3002, Fruit and Nut Cultivar Nursery Sources - 2020. This publication was developed to help growers locate sources of fruit and nut cultivars across the United States that are recommended for Kentucky, or that growers typically ask for in Kentucky. Earlier versions of the publication had been available only as a PDF, and the format was not user-friendly. CCD staff in 2020 developed a new format for the print publication that makes it much easier for growers to locate sources of the cultivars they want to plant. Between the posting of the PDF on the Horticulture Department website on July 23rd, 2020, and June 16th, 2021, the updated publication was accessed 894 times. The PDF is available online at https://www.uky.edu/hort/sites/www.uky.edu.hort/files/documents/HortFact_3002_2020.pdf. Later in 2020, an interactive map was developed for the CCD website showing the locations, contact information, and cultivars available at the various nurseries around the U.S. listed in the publication. The interactive map went live on December 14th, 2020. By June 16th, 2021, the directory had been accessed 241 times. The directory is available at https://uk-horticulture.github.io/Fruit-Nut-Directory/.

CCD staff Joshua Knight and Brett Wolff contributed to this success story.
