During the reporting period, Dr. Ashurst received 2 grants/contracts totaling $183,463. One grant for $140,000 (year 2 amount; 5 year grant) is for a Children, Youth and Families at Risk (CYFAR) grant to provide life skills programming for at-risk youth. Grant sites will be in Fayette and Hardin Counties. A federal contract through USDA for $43,463 is for Ashurst to serve as a federal coach for CYFAR Professional Development and Technical Assistance to provide oversight and assistance to CYFAR grants in other states and territories. A second grant for $174,999 was received in early 2020 for a Military Teen Adventure Camp program to hold camps for service members and their teenage children to attend together to reconnect and focus on the parent-child relationship. Also during this reporting period, Ashurst was involved as personnel on 3 other grants that were awarded. One was in collaboration with the University of TN, one was in collaboration with the UK College of Nursing, and one was in collaboration with the UK College of Social Work.
