In March of 2020 people’s everyday lives took a lifestyle hit with coronavirus COVID 19. A life-threatening virus that made its way to the US. People were advised to stay at home to help slow the spread of the COVID-19. University of Kentucky required offices to stop any live programming. As a result, the Magoffin County Extension Office had to close the doors to the public. The Magoffin County Supplemental Nutrition Education Program Assistant Senior along with the Family and Consumer Science Agent and the Agriculture and Natural Resources Agent and began to contribute to the county in several different ways. Over 6,000 helpful handouts about the COVID- 19 virus, handwashing, children’s activities, nutritional information, recipes, gardening tips, and food safety handouts were passed out at the Water into Wine food pantry, School lunch programs, brown bag projects, Senior Commodities, Senior Center, and the local Health Department. This information was also shared via Facebook, email and in the Magoffin County office newsletters. Keeping with the times Magoffin County Supplemental Nutrition Education Program Assistant Senior along with the Family and Consumer Science Agent and the Agriculture and Natural Resources Agent shared videos and created informational and demonstration videos to attract more interest in their programing on Facebook. This form of programming was a great success with several of the videos reaching over 1,000 viewers.
