Prior to COVID-19 pandemic that hit in the middle of the program year, in person lessons, public relation events, health fairs, and in person food demonstrations was the preferred method of reaching clients. This meant the Magoffin County Nutrition Education Program’s Facebook page was not utilized other than as a reminder of upcoming events or activities. Since the end of March 2020, all events were either canceled or moved to a virtual platform. To reach clients who were now staying healthy at home, the Magoffin County Nutrition Education Facebook page received a much-needed update, with pertinent information added daily. The number of individuals who used the County Facebook page increased by more then 50% since the beginning of April. This gave individuals the opportunity to view Cooking Through the Calendar monthly and gave them an opportunity to see new recipes and food demonstration videos. With the use of Facebook Chop Chop and Healthy Choice Newsletters were shared all over giving each individual an opportunity to read. The Magoffin County Nutrition Education Facebook provide much need COVID-19 updates, gardening tips, cleaning tips, food safety information, and so much more. On the average 500 individuals viewed the various topics on the Facebook page. The Magoffin County Nutrition Education program Assistant Senior use the Facebook to continue the cooking Through the Calendar monthly recipe demonstration to keep people interested in cook healthy. Several of the views commented that they had tried or would try the recipe. As a result the Magoffin County Nutrition Education Program’s Facebook became a vital asset in the delivery of excellent program offered by the university of Kentucky's Nutrition education team.
