The Mammoth Cave area is the heart of the dairy industry in Kentucky. Over 50% of the states total dairies and over 75% of the state’s total dairy cattle are located in south central Kentucky.  Agents from this area joined forces to bring an educational video that not only focuses on dairy production but adding value past the farm gate.   Legacy Dairy owned by the Jones family, bottles the milk from their cows right on the farm.  The non-homogenized, yet pasteurized milk is directly marketed through farms markets and a growing number of retailers throughout KY.

The video has been available less than 6 months, but has been shown to 197 youth (documented).  The video is now being introduced to elementary school teachers for use in their classrooms.  The video is an excellent resource because it presents factual and industry correct information.  The video is current in use in Barren, Hart, & Metcalfe county schools with plans to use in Monroe and Allen Counties during the 2021-2022 school year.  The video was also used as part of the statewide dairy education program.

Agents from Allen, Barren, Metcalfe, & Monroe Counties work collaboratively to produce this video.   The video is available to view at https://youtu.be/IMJApExF4W8
