Pulaski County Extension joined in with 21 others nonprofit organizations and 18 Food Vendors at the “Sample of Somerset” an evening event that was attended by more than 1,000 people. Attendees received educational information about the services provided by the Pulaski Extension Service while sampling delicious foods from the local food suppliers and restaurants. Extension Agents had the opportunity to share with the participants the different programs offered by the Extension Service, and how they could get involved.
This is an event that is held each year to make money for the Operation Angel Care which provides gifts for local youngsters at Christmas time. A fee of $10 is charged for 12 tickets that gives each person the opportunity to purchase foods from the participating vendors. Extension gets to be involved in this community activity which gives them a lot of exposure. Nonprofit vendors share the services they provide for the community as customers stroll through the plaza enjoying their food.
