What Happened to the 4-H Teen Officers of 1989?

What happened to the 4-H Teen Council Leadership of 1989?

“Only those who dare to fail greatly can ever achieve greatly.”-Robert F Kennedy

The 1989 Pike County 4-H Teen Council were a robust group of leaders.   This group of young leaders took part in 4-H Teen Conference as well as the 4-H American Heritage Conference.   During their terms, the served as leaders during 4-H Camp and 4-H Fairs, help with fund raisers to help teen trips and helped in the 4-H Recognition Banquets.

Now well in adulthood, the president, Christina is a nurse practitioner.  She has served as a coach for the 4-H Avian Team and on the 4-H Council.  The vice-president, Chad is now a medical doctor.  He went to bat for 4-H and presented information to the school site base council.  He said and I quote, “I was one those low income kids and I would not be where I am today without 4-H.”

Becky was the secretary and is now a college professor.   Robin was the treasurer and is now a C.P.A. and accounts manager for the YMCA in her community.  Robin has served as secretary on the Pike County Extension District Board.  She now serves on the 4-H Council in her county in Virginia.  There were other members on the council like, Chad, who is now a dentist, Lela, who is now a pharmacist; and Lisa works with special needs youth.  Two others, Rhonda and Amy are stay.a home moms.

Per the County Extension Council recommendation, we trained this group of leaders on leadership and life skills.  This group of young leaders dared to step into leadership and are now successful adults; through 4-H we have made the best better.
