Facebook/The new Classroom

Planning Unit: Bullitt County CES

Major Program: Nutrition and Food Systems General

Outcome: Initial Outcome

Due to the coronavirus continuing in to 2021, all in person nutrition education classes were still on hold for the Bullitt County Nutrition Education Program. In order to reach out to the community the Facebook page which was started in March of 2020 was utilized even more by posting more resources several times a day.

The goal was to post recipes and helpful tips that could be taken and used in everyday life, just as if regular classes were being taught. To keep in touch with current clients and reach out to the community with much needed nutrition education resources.

In February of 2021 the NEP Facebook page had 3,404 indirect contacts with 646 of those estimated to be SNAP-ED eligible (using the state poverty rate). The Facebook page will continue even after classes can be held in person once again and will serve as a resource to the EFNEP audience in Bullitt County.
