Programs on the Go

Major Program: Active Living and Health Promotions General

Plan of Work: Encouraging the Adoption of Healthy Lifestyles and Health Maintenance

Outcome: Long-Term Outcome

Through the COVID-19 Pandemic, the entire state of Kentucky has gone through various degrees of being "shut down".  We as Extension workers tried to find ways that we could still offer programming and valuable information to our communities, even if it were not in person.  With the Grab-N-Go program, the FCS Agent in Harlan County was able to provide programs that participants could simply stop by the office and grab a bag to take with them.  During the month of June 2021, we offered programs for the entire month.  The first focused on being physically active, in which participants were given water bottles, leg bands, frisbees, and publications on proper hydration and exercise.  Week 2 focused on body balance and eating healthy.  Participants were given lunch bags and recipes along with information on eating the rainbow and balancing.  The last week focused on stress management.  The kits included a wooden pattern to paint and information on stress management.  Over the course of the month of June over 200 Grab-N- Go bags were given out to the community.
