Plan of Work: Community Leadership
Outcome: Intermediate Outcome
Volunteers are always needed in the world of Extension and during the COVID-19 Pandemic, we saw how much our volunteers contributed to the communities. The Harlan County Homemakers pulled together with the FCS Agent to supply mandated face mask to a multitude of organizations. The Homemakers of Harlan County worked vigorously to put in the hours to get as many face coverings as possible out to the communities. Following CDC guidelines and patterns that were distributed to the Homemakers, they were able to successfully makeover 500 face coverings to distribute throughout the community to healthcare providers, children's hospitals, veterans, emergency personnel, nursing homes, and members of the communities at no charge. Donated fabric and elastic were given by different sources in the community as well as the fabric that was purchased and donated by the Homemakers. Information was given along with face coverings by the FCS Agent on proper wearing of face coverings and proper handwashing.
