In January the Family and Consumer Science agent, SNAP-ED assistant and myself (Cumberland County ANR agent) decided that since we couldn’t go into the school for lessons, we would come up with curriculum for them to do. In February we presented CCES with six lessons for each grade level (K-3) to complete about agriculture, food/nutrition, and physical activity. Over the course of four months (February to May) each grade level completed their assignments/lessons. In total, 192 students completed the lessons. According to teachers, the students loved the lessons. Students were also able to see one lesson up close and personal when Southland Dairy Association brought the dairy demonstration cow to the school to show the students. This allowed the students to see how a dairy cow is milked and then discusses the process to get milk on store shelves.
