Outcome: Intermediate Outcome

In 2020, the COVID 19 pandemic threatened the lives of people throughout the world.  The stress of limited food access was overwhelming for many families in Oldham County Kentucky.  According to the Dare to care food bank, 4,540 individuals in Oldham County are food insecure.

The Oldham County Expanded Food and Nutrition Assistant partnered with the 2 local food pantries to provide COVID 19 materials on handwashing and staying healthy through the pandemic.  Healthy recipes paired with foods received that week helped in the preparation of healthy nutritious meals for families.  From October 1, 2020 thru March 30, 2021, approximately 9400 materials were handed put to families at the 2 pantries.  By providing the Healthy Choices newsletter bi monthly, the Oldham County Extension office was able to provide valuable information to the families.  Establishing partnerships with other resources in the county is a valuable part of Extension work.
