4-H Club Meetings during Covid

Planning Unit: Bourbon County CES

Major Program: Leadership

Plan of Work: Educating Youth and Adults on Life Skills, safety, personal and family development

Outcome: Initial Outcome

Due to COVID, 4-H School Club meetings abruptly ended in March 2020.  Through a portion of that time, all students were virtual.  Once school started in fall 2020, teachers and the 4-H Agent worked  together to come up with ideas to still incorporate 4-H into their classrooms virtually.  Schools were still not allowing outside individuals into the buildings.  We were able to set up zooms and "meet" with all but 1 4th and 5th grade classroom in the community.  Students received information about upcoming events, public speaking program, some camp information, 4H enrollment.  While this is still not ideal, it became a viable avenue for remaining "in the classrooms". Even though we were not face to face, 4th graders immediately recognized "Ms Lois" during summer school art projects and said "Yes, you are the 4-H Lady"   This clearly was not ideal  situations, however, being able to zoom with students kept  4-H in the forefront of their minds as well as continuing our mission to deliver quality educational opportunities  even during unprecedented times.
